Lovely food and friendly staff. Great rest stop when on a bike ride.
I am staying here as I write this review and I cannot tell you how much i have enjoyed being here ! I think the best part about Sophie's... is the fact that Sophie is right there trying to make your experience exhilarating. The personal touch to everything she and her staff does, whether it is the food or just having a conversation, is so amazing. In today's age of budget hotels, sophie's has made me realise that a holiday should be an experience and not just a room with a kettle, hot bath and tea with guranteered goodngoodnight sleep due to the quality of the mattress!! Without doubt, I recommend Sophie ' s to each of u who is looking for a tranquil holiday with the warmth of home. The food is amazing ..just like home, the staff are lovely , the rooms are simple , elegant , peaceful and most importantly they make sure that they take time out of their work to just talk to u and make sure that the guests feel important and cared for. I am thoroughly enjoying my holiday and just wish i didn t have to check out so soon but i am definitely coming back !!

We went to this place to celebrate my mother in-law's birthday. It is in a lovely country side with picturesque views. We had a booking for 07.45 pm and we were directed to our table straight away. We were asked for our drinks and shortly after our drinks arrived our order was taken. My husband even got his second drink served. But that was more or less the whole activity for the next hour. When our order was served it was quarter to 09.00pm. My mother in-law's dessert was wrong (ice cream instead of the cream that she asked), although our coffees were good. When paying, my husband was asked if everything was OK apart from the late service with no apologies. My hake was a bit bland and the stakes my husband and his mum had were not the best cut of the animal. Although the starters look adventurous, the main courses are just ordinary pub food with not much imagination. They offer gluten free and vegetarian food but no salads neither in the starters nor as a main course. I am afraid we won't repeat our custom.
We have always loved this place. Close to home which is important as we are both elderly, my husband is disabled &I am the only driver. The staff are brilliant, the food very good. Regrettably , last evening when we had a grandson here,Just for 36 hours on shore leave, the service was poor (7-45 booking, main course arrived 9-05).much too late. Apologies given "busy "though restaurant wasn't full. 1 free starter given. Not asked if we would like to have dessert, clearing up in progress. A sad disappointment.
